Class of 1961 Partial Scholarship Program
Established in 2004, the Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund currently funds the Partial Scholarship Program, which awards one $2,000 scholarship to a returning junior in the College of Liberal Arts who has demonstrated financial need. The first award was given to Amanda Jamieson ’09 for the 2007-08 academic year. Beginning with the 2011-12 academic year, the Partial Scholarship Program will expire, and, with your help, the Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund shall grant full tuition scholarship awards to students demonstrating financial need.

Currently, we have raised over $231,000 toward our $1 million goal (as of March 2008). If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund, please contact Shannon Christianson, Director of Reunion Giving at schristi@willamette.edu, or 503-370-6952.

Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund Info
TO RECAP THE HISTORY OF OUR CLASS OF 1961 SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
  • The idea for a scholarship fund as a 50th Anniversary Class Gift first surfaced at our 40th Reunion.  The class survey that followed gave confirmation to the idea of a Class of 1961 Scholarship Fund as our gift to Willamette.
  • Sammie Barker McCormack was instrumental in getting the fund off and running.
